Creatures of the Rural Present is a sculptural and installation project that reimagines monsters for today’s countryside. It draws on Catalan folklore and village parades while weaving in textures from science fiction, fantasy cinema, and puppetry. The creatures embody fear, strangeness, and humor as ways to approach what escapes logic in the rural landscape.
They are built from local, found, and recycled materials, layering fragility with absurdity. The project opens space to reflect on global issues—racism, drought, waste, corruption—through the lens of monstrous imagination.
